Arrivals, Departures, and Parking at Our School

Introduction

We are committed to providing a safe, secure and respectful environment for all. Please read the following carefully:

When you arrive on August 15, please proceed to the yard where your child’s teacher will be waiting to meet his or her class. Each teacher will have a sign with their room number. For safety reasons, we have specific entrances for drop-off and pick-up for different grade levels. Grade 1-5 students enter and leave at Lincoln Avenue Gate. TK and K enter and leave at Santa Clara Avenue gate.

Office Hours

The office is open to the public and available to our families by phone from 8:00 - 4:00 pm.

Morning Drop Off

Love provides supervised breakfast outside tables every day starting at 7:45 am. All students, grades TK-5, should enter the cafeteria from the Lincoln Gate.

Children can arrive at school as early as 7:45 am but not earlier than that. No supervision is provided before 7:45 am.

Grades 1-5 Students are not allowed in the Lincoln yard until 8:10 am (no Kindergarten or TK students).

Parents must stay with Kindergarten students outside the classrooms (in the kinder yard) until the classroom teacher arrives.

TK supervision begins at 8:20.

Please ensure students arrive at school on time; Lincoln gate will close at 8:20 am.

Afternoon Pick Up

Please arrange who will pick up your child/children in the morning before dropping them off. The office is not a meeting or drop-off location.

Parking

THERE IS NO PARKING FOR PARENTS IN THE STAFF PARKING LOT. The driveway and parking lot is designated for staff only. The church parking lot is also NOT for use by Love’s parents. Please DO NOT use these areas for dropping off and picking up your child.

SAFETY- At instructional time, cars parked on the driveway will be asked to move. Any persons standing by the fence or perimeter during instructional time will be asked to leave.

Here are the common traffic violations that cause problems for students, staff, and families at our school.

Red Curb - NO PARKING OR STOPPING AT ANY TIME
Most of these around the school is established to give the crosswalk an expansive view of oncoming traffic. Most children are shorter than your car and cannot be seen by oncoming traffic. Red zones are also for Fire, Police, and Emergency Vehicles. Staying in your car does not make parking in the red zone legal. Putting on your hazard lights does not make it safer. You are still blocking the view of the crosswalk.

White Curb – Parking in a Loading or Unloading Zone (8-11.1AMC)
This means that vehicles cannot stop for a period of time longer than is necessary for the loading or unloading of passengers or materials. Please note: When vehicles are parked in the loading and unloading zone, it causes other drivers to impede traffic in order to drop off or pick up.

Double Parking - Impeding Traffic (22400aCVC) This means stopping in the lane or driving so slow as to impede or block the normal movement of traffic. Putting on hazard lights does not correct the obstruction.

Crosswalks Not Yielding to a Pedestrian (21950CVC)
Drivers must yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian crossing the street within any marked crosswalk or unmarked crosswalk at an intersection. Drivers must reduce speed, stop or take any other action necessary to safeguard the safety of the pedestrian.

Traffic Safety

Cars are not always looking for families crossing the street on the way to school. If you see a car running a stop light or creating a dangerous situation for students walking to school, please report the license plate to the office. We will then contact the Alameda Police Department.
